E-Safety
The Importance of Online Safety for Our Pupils
At Northcroft School, online safety is an important part of keeping children and young people safe and well. Many pupils appear confident with technology, but they may not yet have the experience to spot risks or know what to do if something does not feel right.
We encourage families to support online safety at home by talking regularly about what your child is doing online, setting clear boundaries for screen time and apps, checking privacy settings together and reminding them that they can always come to a trusted adult if they feel worried or unsafe. Working together helps young people build safe habits and make better choices online.

The Breadth Of Issues Classified Within Online Safety Is Considerable And Ever Evolving, But Can Be Categorised Into Three Areas Of Risk:

Contact: being subjected to harmful online interaction with other users; for example: peer to peer pressure, commercial advertising and adults posing as children or young adults with the intention to groom or exploit them for sexual, criminal, financial or other purposes.
Conduct: online behaviour that increases the likelihood of, or causes, harm; for example, making, sending, and receiving explicit images (e.g. consensual and non-consensual sharing of nudes and semi-nudes and/or pornography, sharing other explicit images, and online bullying). Commerce: risks such as online gambling, inappropriate advertising, phishing, and financial scams. If you feel your pupils, students, or staff are at risk, please report it to the Anti-Phishing Working Group. (https://apwg.org/)
